What is acupuncture?<\/h2>\n

Acupuncture, the most famous unconventional method of pain relief, consists of nothing more than pricking active points on the body called meridians with special needles. Its origins are estimated to date as far back as the Stone Age, where stone knives were originally used instead of needles. Over time, knives were replaced by stone needles, specially worked bamboo stalks or even bones. Needles were then created successively from bronze, iron, steel and gold. Ear acupuncture uses thin needles that are stimulated by electrodes attached to them. The needles used for the procedure reach a length of 2-10 mm and are made of nickel or chromium.
