What is pinopressure?

Pinopressure is an innovative therapeutic method developed in Poland. The approach combines the achievements of conventional medicine together with techniques used in alternative medicine. Pinopressure is categorised as one of the reflex therapies, based on the body's natural self-repair capabilities.

What is a pinopressure treatment?

Pinopressure is a relatively new method used on the borderline between physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The technique involves pressing and stimulating specific points on the body with copper nails (professionally known as pins). The method's creator, Dr Radowlaw Składkowski, drew on knowledge derived from Far Eastern medicine, reflexology, acupuncture and modern forms of manual medicine. In this way, he created an extremely comprehensive therapeutic approach using specialised tools and reactions.

The element that distinguishes pinopressure is the typology of patients - they are divided into 5 groups according to the elements: water, earth, air, fire and ether. The division depends on the individual's response to pain, the quality of their sense of kinesthetics, as well as their anatomical structure and tissue arrangement. Based on this, appropriate techniques such as dry needling, joint mobilisation, myofascial therapy, short-lever manipulation and, of course, pinning are selected. Pins are therapeutic tools resembling long nails, pointed on one side and flattened on the other. The whole is based on reflex therapy. The treatment is carried out on clean, dry skin in a position that is convenient for the patient (usually lying down).

Indications for treatment

It is always advisable to consult a physiotherapist before making an appointment, who will recommend the appropriate method of therapy. Pinopressure is recommended for people who experience musculo-fascial complaints (tension and pain), post-traumatic conditions, limited joint mobility and psychosomatic problems. Many specialists also include Parkinson's disease, conditions such as Haglund's heel, golfer's elbow or tendonitis among the indications. Interestingly, pinopressure also has a positive effect on the regulation of the digestive system. Contraindications include cancer, epilepsy, pregnancy, viral or bacterial infections and aneurysms.

Pinopressure - expected effects

The therapy has a proven positive effect on both patients' wellbeing and physical performance. With this type of treatment, it is possible to effectively reduce muscle tension, stimulate the sympathetic nervous system (responsible for a range of unconscious reflexes, mobilisation of the body and the experience of stress). It is worth remembering that pinopressure is a holistic therapy. It makes it possible to reduce pathological tension in specific muscles or groups of muscles, the cause of which is most often cumulative stress.

The treatments are recommended for people with dynamic lifestyles who experience many stressors on a daily basis. By stimulating blood circulation in the body, the metabolic system can be improved. This promotes lymphatic circulation and helps to reduce swelling or swelling that occurs. Pinopressure also facilitates the removal of toxic substances from the body and improves digestion. According to many expert reviews and satisfied patients, it is also an effective way to reduce pain associated with chronic diseases.
