Do you play sport? Do you struggle with a lot of pain? Cryotherapy is the answer. It is a comprehensive treatment that is an effective healing method. It involves lowering the temperature of body tissues, resulting in accelerated blood circulation.
Cryotherapy- what is it?
It is a treatment that makes use of natural human defence mechanisms. By lowering the temperature of body tissues, the body activates adaptive heat regulation mechanisms. This makes it possible to restore the body's natural balance and eliminate pain. During cryotherapy, in the first moments of the treatment there is a contraction of the blood vessels and subcutaneous tissue, resulting in slower blood flow. The contraction of the superficial vessels, causes the blood to move to deeper structures. Blood starts to flow more intensively through the arteries and veins, which has a positive effect on the body. In addition, the frequency of heart contractions decreases and the adrenal cortex begins to produce anti-inflammatory hormones. Treatments are carried out generally and topically.
General treatments
They are performed in a cryochamber or cryosauna. The temperature there is between -100 and -160 degrees Celsius. The whole body is cooled except the head. Before entering the room, the patient has to adapt to the temperature in the two earlier atriums, where -10 to -60 degrees Celsius prevail. The person receiving the treatment must have their ears, hands, feet and mouth covered. These are parts of the body susceptible to freezing.

Local treatments
These are treatments that use low temperatures. They include ice massages and rubs, cold compresses, bathing in ice-cold water and blowing with cold air or nitrogen vapour.
Cryotherapy- indications for treatment
The treatment is recommended for anyone struggling with post-stress conditions, who are active athletes and who have undergone bone, joint and muscle injuries in the past. Cryotherapy has a beneficial effect on patients struggling with:
- rheumatoid arthritis and soft tissue inflammation,
- osteoarthritis,
- sciatica,
- psoriatic arthropathy,
- multiple sclerosis,
- muscle tension located throughout the body,
- complaints of pain in the upper and lower limbs.
What benefits it brings cryotherapy?
Patients cite increased immunity as the biggest benefit of the treatment. With regular use cryotherapy has a positive effect on the immune system. It relaxes the deep skeletal muscles and strengthens blood vessel structures. Furthermore, the body becomes firmer and the skin gains a uniform colour. Cryotherapy promotes faster weight loss and delays the body's ageing process.
